Integrated Petroleum Geoscience Masterclass
Designed for
This course is designed for participants in need of a basic understanding of the principles of petroleum geosciences and operations involved in petroleum exploration and production. They include:
|
|
Masterclass Objectives
- ANALYSE the key elements within a successful petroleum system
- LEARN about basic principles of petroleum geology, including structural geology, stratigraphy and sedimentology
- EXPLORE various techniques in seismic data acquisition, processing and interpretation
- IDENTIFY various rock types, their origins, formations and their significance in petroleum generation
- APPLY practical well-logging methods and analysis during E&P
- UNDERSTAND the basics of well designing and drilling operations
- GAIN insights on the planning and management of E&P operations
Overview
At the end of the course, participants will have grasped the basic principles of the acquisition, processing and management of subsurface data. They will be aware and to a large extent learn how to evaluate the data through lectures and discussions integrated with practical exercises.
Participants will be using a “microscope” for rock analysis, plot geophysical and well log data and correlate the information.
Participants will also acquire an understanding of drilling problems caused by subsurface conditions, and of application of subsurface data in exploration and development projects.
